Vic Cummings for St. Joseph County Assessor

Born at South Bend’s Memorial Hospital, Vic Cummings is deeply rooted into the fabric and soul of our community.

Hailing from a large South Bend family — Vic has 9 brothers and 2 sisters! — he graduated from Clay High School and went to work, serving as a machine operator; a building engineer for the South Bend community schools; and currently as a sales representative supplying HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection to businesses and homes throughout St. Joseph County.

But on the west side of South Bend, Vic is known as Coach Cummings. For the past ten years, Vic has coached high school football and has served as the Washington High School offensive coordinator for the past three seasons.

Vic and his wife, a middle school principal, are raising two children — a son and daughter, ages 11 and 12. Their family is active in 4-H and regularly volunteer at Prairie Winds Nature Farm.

“Every year the bureaucrats in Indianapolis — led by Gov. Mike Braun — set stricter, more complicated rules aimed at breaking the will of the property owner. We need a County Assessor with deep roots in our community who will help property owners get a fair deal out of Indianapolis. We will aim to coach everyone who needs help combatting the red tape at the Capitol.” — Vic Cummings
